RICHMOND, Ky. – The Eastern Kentucky University men's tennis program is set for its home opener against Northern Kentucky and Cumberlands on Friday at the Greg Adams Tennis Center. 
 
First serve in Saturday's doubleheader against NKU is scheduled to begin at 12 p.m. ET with the second match against Cumberlands starting around 6 p.m.  Admission to the indoor tennis center is free for all fans, those not able to attend in person can find the contests streamed live on PlaySight.
 
EKU (0-4) opened its season with doubleheader losses to Ole Miss and Louisville last week.  The Colonels scored one point against each program, securing the doubles points in a match over Ole Miss and one singles win over Louisville.
 
Nuno Pinheiro was the highlight for the Colonels, the junior from Portugal picked up three combined wins between singles and doubles to finish the opening week with a 3-1 record. 
 
In singles, Pinheiro had a 6-4, 4-6, 10-8 win over Louisville's Andre Steinback from the No. 2 court and had two 6-3 doubles victories against the No. 2 pairings from UL and Ole Miss with teammate Christian Cantos Siemers.
 
Scouting Northern Kentucky
NKU (0-1) enters play on Wednesday coming off a season-opening loss to No. 7 Kentucky on the road via sweep.  Freshman Jacob Rouleau-Mailly was the only player able to get more than four games against his opposition, doing so in the first set of singles play against UK's No. 79-ranked Charlelie Cosnet.
 
Scouting Cumberlands
Saturday's match will be the season opener for Cumberlands.  Last season, the Patriots went 17-7 overall and 6-0 in Mid-South Conference play, they would go on to end their season in the NAIA National Championship with a loss to No. 19 Grace College in the first round.
