Women’s Soccer Hosts Bellarmine in Rivalry Match Sunday

Colonels, Knights Among ASUN’s Top Three in League Wins

RICHMOND, Ky. – Eastern Kentucky University women's soccer will host Bellarmine on Sunday in a rivalry matchup between two of the top teams in the Atlantic Sun Conference.
 
Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. at the EKU Soccer Field. Admission is free. Promotional themes for the match include Youth Soccer Day, Kids Club Day, and Pups at the Pitch.
 
Fun activities will be all around the pitch including but not limited to foam finger giveaway, dog frisbee giveaway, inflatables, yard games, post-game autographs, Kona Ice truck, and Junior Colonel Club members can pick up their welcome package at the marketing table.
 
EKU (7-2-3, 2-1-1 ASUN) is coming off a bye on Thursday while eight other conference teams were in action. The Colonels' last outing was a scoreless draw at home against North Alabama.
 
Since September 2024, EKU has gone unbeaten in 12 straight home matches, posting a 10-0-2 record with six shutouts totaling 32 consecutive points (Win or tie).
 
Freshman goalkeeper Jordan LeVasseur, the reigning ASUN Goalkeeper of the Week, leads the Colonels' defense. She stopped 13 shots in two shutout victories last week. LeVasseur is one of two goalkeepers in the league to win the award multiple times this season.
 
The Pinckney, Michigan, native ranks first in the ASUN and top 10 in the country in saves per game (7.44), total saves (67) and save percentage (.905). She holds a 5-1-3 record in goal and has recorded three consecutive shutouts.
 
On offense, sophomore Ella Grode paces EKU with six goals, two assists, and 14 total points. The Ohio native also leads the team with 44 percent of her shots on target (12-of-27). She will be seeking her first goal since Sept. 14 against Duquesne.
 
Scouting Bellarmine
Bellarmine (8-2-2, 2-2-0 ASUN) is off to its most successful season in the program's Division I era. The Knights have key wins over Miami (Ohio), Indiana, Wright State, Kennesaw State, and North Alabama. They have outscored opponents 25-10 and average 2.08 goals per game.
 
Freshman forward McKenzie Carle and senior forward Lucy von Stefenelli lead the attack with a combined 12 goals. Carle has scored seven times on 39 shot attempts, while von Stefenelli has five goals on 38 attempts.
 
Series History
Sunday's match is the first of two meetings between EKU and Bellarmine this season and the fifth all-time. The Colonels hold a 2-1-1 advantage in the series, with two straight wins and a +2 goal differential.
