JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Eastern Kentucky University cross country teams swept the ASUN Conference's weekly Runners of the Week honors as announced by the league office on Wednesday afternoon.
For the men,
Justine Kipkoech takes the runner of the week honor with
James Ndayishimiye taking freshman of the week honors.
On the women's side,
Metrine Serem claimed both the runner and freshman of the week honors.
This is the second week in a row that EKU has swept the weekly awards.
Serem takes both honors after running a time of 17:30.1 finishing 29
th in the 5K Gold race at the SWAGS Louisville Cross Country Classic last week.
Kipkoech led EKU to a second place team finish in Louisville finishing 3
rd individually in a time of 23:38.1 in the men's 8K Gold race.
Ndayishimiye earns his first conference honor after finishing 18
th in Louisville in a time of 24:08.8.
The Colonels will next run on October 17 in Madison Wisconsin at the Nuttycombe Invite.
