LOUISVILLE – The men's cross country team of Eastern Kentucky University finished third in the team standings at the Swags Louisville Cross Country Classic on Saturday afternoon.
Racing in the 8K Gold section,
Justine Kipkoech led EKU with a third place individual finish in a time of 23:38.1 followed by
Cosmas Kiprop who finished in 11
th in a time of 23:55.
As a team, EKU scored 62 points, only two points off the section's winner Middle Tennessee State.
German Vega and
James Ndayishimiye earned top-20 finishes on the day with Vega completing the 8K course in 23:58.2 in 14
th, and Ndayishimiye finishing 18
th at 24:08.8.
Griffin Staude finished 20
th in a time of 24:12, while
Ty Blair finished 28
th in a time of 24:24.7, and
Cesc Boix finished 31
st in 24:30.4.
Will Cahill made his EKU debut finishing 80
th in 25:08.1.
For the women of EKU, Metrine Jelimo finished 29
th in the 5K Gold race in a time of 17:30.1.
Ann Kiplagat and
Bryce Alan Thornsbury also ran, finishing in 18:23 and 19:06.7 respectively.
