RICHMOND, Ky. – Eastern Kentucky University's men's and women's cross country teams will be in action on Saturday at the Swags Louisville Cross Country Classic tomorrow beginning at 9 a.m.
The competition will be held at E.P. Tom Sawyer State Park.
Competing on the women's side will be
Metrine Serem,
Khadija Ennasri,
Clara Barbosa,
Bryce Alan Thornsbury, and
Ann Kiplagat.
On the men's side, the Colonels will be well represented with
Tomas Vega,
German Vega,
Cosmas Kiprop,
Cesc Boix,
Ty Blair,
James Ndayishimiye,
Justine Kipkoech,
Griffin Staude, and
Will Cahill all competing for EKU.
The Colonels will run in the Derby City with both teams coming off successful outings recently with EKU sweeping the ASUN Runners of the Week honors this week.
Er Raouy and Kimutai claim the men's accolades after stellar performances at the Gans Creek Classic last Friday.
Er Raouy finished 31st in the Gold Invite section with a personal best 8K time of 23:07.3.
Meanwhile, Kimutai finished 33rd in a time of 23:08.05 in his collegiate debut, being the third-highest finisher out of 48 freshmen running.
The duo led EKU to a 17th-place team finish, helping the Colonels earn the No. 26 ranking in the latest USTFCCCA poll.
On the women's side, Ennasri and Kobylinski led the Colonels to a podium sweep at the Asbury Invitational last Saturday as the two finished the 6K course 1-2 in times of 23:06.3 and 24:03.2, respectively.
