JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Atlantic Sun Conference recognized four members of the Eastern Kentucky University cross country team as the league's male and female runners and freshmen of the week, as announced on Wednesday afternoon.
Taha Er Raouy and
Khadija Ennasri earned the conference's Male and Female Runners of the Week honors, respectively, with
Brian Kimutai and
Morgan Kobylinski taking Freshmen of the Week honors.
Er Raouy and Kimutai claim the men's accolades after stellar performances at the Gans Creek Classic last Friday.
Er Raouy finished 31
st in the Gold Invite section with a personal best 8K time of 23:07.3.
Meanwhile, Kimutai finished 33
rd in a time of 23:08.05 in his collegiate debut, being the third-highest finisher out of 48 freshmen running.
The duo led EKU to a 17
th-place team finish, helping the Colonels earn the No. 26 ranking in the latest USTFCCCA poll.
On the women's side, Ennasri and Kobylinski led the Colonels to a podium sweep at the Asbury Invitational last Saturday as the two finished the 6K course 1-2 in times of 23:06.3 and 24:03.2, respectively.
Colonel cross country will be back in action this Saturday in Louisville, Ky., for the Swags Louisville Cross Country Classic at E.P. Tom Sawyer State Park.
