JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Eastern Kentucky University's
Kenleigh Woods has been named the Atlantic Sun Conference Freshman of the Week after standout performances in home wins over Evansville and North Dakota.
The honor is the first of Woods' career and the Colonels' first weekly award of the 2025-26 season. Since joining the ASUN, EKU has earned 19 conference weekly honors, including seven Freshman of the Week selections.
Woods, a guard from Ashland, Kentucky, made her first collegiate start against Evansville last Wednesday and scored 12 points on 5-of-7 shooting. She added a career-high four assists and two rebounds.
Later in the week, she posted five points, four rebounds and three assists in a 57-46 win over North Dakota.
For the week, Woods averaged 8.5 points, 3.5 assists and 3.0 rebounds per game. She shot 43.7 percent (7-of-16) from the field and made one 3-pointer.
Woods ranks second on the team in minutes per game (30.5) and scoring (9.8). She leads all starters in field-goal percentage at 50 percent (15-of-30).
EKU (3-1) returns to action Tuesday night at North Dakota. Tipoff is set for 8 p.m. ET.
