Colonels Back At Home On Saturday

RICHMOND, Ky. – Eastern Kentucky University will host Indiana University East on Saturday at Baptist Health Arena.
 
The contest will begin at 4 p.m. ET and air live on ESPN+.  The live audio broadcast of the game is available worldwide on EKUSports.com and the EKUSports app.  Click the "Listen Live" button at the top of the EKUSports.com home page to access the audio broadcast.
 
It will be Kids Takeover Day at the game.  Kids have signed up for the opportunity to be part of the game day staff.  The Toys for Tots Toy Drive continues on Saturday as well.  Fans who donate a new toy will receive a voucher for a discounted ticket.
 
THE COLONELS
-  EKU (1-7) suffered an 89-78 loss at No. 18 ranked mid-major Illinois State on Wednesday.  The Colonels erased a double-digit deficit early in the game and then closed an 18-point second half deficit to four with less than two minutes left in the game.
 
-  Sophomore guard Juan Cranford Jr. tied his career-high with five 3-pointers against ISU and finished the game with 17 points on 6-of-11 shooting from the field.  He was 5-for-8 from behind the arc.
 
-  Redshirt freshman Jayden Harris set new career-highs for points (15) and rebounds (7) against the Redbirds.
 
-  Illinois State entered the game averaging just 9.3 turnovers per game, which was 14th in the nation.  The Colonels turned the Redbirds over 12 times and scored 22 points off turnovers.
 
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
-  IU East is 5-3 overall this season.  This game will be an exhibition contest for the Red Wolves.  IUE beat Warner, 94-70, on Sunday in Kingsport, Tennessee.  
 
- The Red Wolves are averaging 85 points per game and allowing 84.6 per contest.  IU East has shot 48% from the field for the season.
 
-  Mikey Johnson leads the team in scoring (14.3 ppg) and assists (4.4 apg), and is second in rebounding (5.0 rpg).  The 6-foot-2 freshman guard from Indianapolis is shooting 56% from the field and 92% at the free throw line (22-of-24).
 
-  Cole Henry, a 6-foot-8 freshman guard, is the team's top rebounder (6.2 rpg) and second leading scorer (13.5 ppg).
 
INSIDE THE SERIES
-  This is the first-ever meeting between the two programs.
 
-  IU East is a member of the NAIA River States Conference.  EKU beat RSC member Midway, 122-60, to begin the season.
