Colonels Set For Senior Day On Tuesday, Short Road Trip To Face Bellarmine on Thursday

RICHMOND, Ky. – Eastern Kentucky University will honor senior Devontae Blanton before Tuesday's regular season home finale against first place Lipscomb.  The Colonels will then make the short trip to Louisville on Thursday to face rival Bellarmine.
 
Tickets for Tuesday's game are just $5 each.  It will be 859 Night and Greek Night at Baptist Health Arena.  There will be an EKU jersey giveaway for students.  Students receive free admission.
 
Tuesday's game, presented by Central Bank, will begin at 7 p.m. ET.  Thursday's contest is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. ET.  Both games will air live on ESPN+.  The live radio broadcasts of the games are available in the Richmond area on WCYO 100.7 FM, or worldwide on EKUSports.com.  Tuesday's game will also air live over the air and on area cable systems on WBON-TV, providing coverage from Richmond to West Virginia.
 
THE COLONELS
-  EKU (16-11, 10-4 ASUN) has won seven straight games and sits just one game out of a first place tie.  The Colonels are tied with Jacksonville for third.
 
-  In the absence of injured leading scorer George Kimble III, the duo of Blanton and Mayar Wol led the Colonels to two wins last week.  Blanton averaged 21.5 points, 10.5 assists and 4.0 rebounds while shooting 53% from the field in wins over West Georgia and Queens.  Wol averaged 22.5 points and 6.0 rebounds while shooting 50% from the field and 55% (11-of-20) from 3-point range in those games.
 
-  In their last four games, the Colonels have made 59 three-pointers, an average of 14.8 per game.  EKU has hit 13 or more in each of those games and is shooting 48% from deep.
 
-  During its 7-game winning streak, EKU is averaging 16.0 assists per game and dishing out an assist on 53% of their made field goals.  In the seven ASUN games before that, EKU averaged 10.9 assists and had an assist on just 43% of its shots.
 
SCOUTING THE OPPONENTS
-  Lipscomb is 19-8 overall and 10-3 in Atlantic Sun Conference games.  The Bisons, who have won five straight, are tied with North Alabama for first place.  Lipscomb beat FGCU, 82-68, at home on Saturday.  
 
- Jacob Ognacevic leads the team in scoring (19.9 ppg) and rebounding (8.1 rpg).  He ranks first and third in the ASUN in those categories.  Lipscomb leads the conference in points allowed (67.3/game), field goal percentage (48%) and defensive field goal percentage (42%).
 
-  Bellarmine is 3-24 this season and 0-14 in ASUN play.  The Knights have lost 17 straight, including an 81-76 setback at home to West Georgia on Saturday.
 
-  Jack Karasinski leads the team in scoring at 16.2 points per game.  The Knights average 72 points per game while allowing 81 per contest.  Bellarmine is last in the ASUN in field goal percentage defense (49%) and 3-point field goal percentage defense (39%).
 
INSIDE THE SERIES
-  The all-time series with Lipscomb is tied 3-3.  EKU has a 2-0 edge over the Bisons in games played in Richmond.  In the most recent meeting, the Colonels earned an 80-71 win in Nashville on Jan. 30.  In that last meeting, EKU held the ASUN leader in field goal percentage to 39 percent shooting from the field.  EKU limited preseason all-conference selection Will Pruitt to two points and four rebounds.  He came into the game averaging 12 points and six boards per game.  Devontae Blanton led a balanced scoring attack with 17 points and also grabbed 10 rebounds.  Ognacevic led all players with 20 points and 12 rebounds.
 
-  The Colonels have an 8-2 lead in the all-time series against Bellarmine and have won four straight against the Knights.  EKU is 1-2 in games played in Louisville.  The most recent meeting was a 72-69 victory for the Colonels on Jan. 18 in Richmond.  Jordan Crawford's midcourt steal off an inbounds pass and layup with 27.6 seconds left in that game allowed EKU to open up a 5-point lead.  George Kimble III scored a game-best 21 points.  Bellarmine went 9-for-15 (60 percent) from 3-point range, led by Billy Smith who hit three on four attempts and led the Knights with 20 points.
