Colonels Earn Host Seed with Senior Day Victory over Lipscomb

EKU Plays Next Saturday in Richmond for ASUN Quarterfinals

RICHMOND, Ky. – The Eastern Kentucky University women's basketball team took down Lipscomb, 83-76, on Senior Day to earn a host seed in the 2025 Atlantic Sun Conference Women's Basketball Tournament next weekend at Baptist Health Arena.

With the win, EKU (20-11, 10-8 ASUN) secures consecutive 20-win seasons for the first time since 2000-02 and will host a conference tournament game for the second time in its four seasons as a member institution in the league.  Fans are encouraged to be on the lookout tomorrow morning for more details on next weekend's game.

Leading the Colonels' effort was freshman guard Liz Freihofer who scored 18 points behind a 4-for-8 showing from deep.  In total, six EKU student-athletes ended in double figure scoring; Alice Recanati (16), Raphaela Toussaint (14), Jasmine McGinnis-Taylor (13), Kaitlyn Costner (12), and Althea Kara Angeles (10).  It was the second time this season EKU has had six players with 10 or more points in a single game.

EKU scored 25 points in the second quarter and 21 points in the third quarter to put Saturday's game slightly out of reach as the clock ticked down late in the contest.  The Colonels shot 50 percent (31-for-62) from the floor and made 11 three-pointers.

On the glass, EKU had its 14th game this season over 40 rebounds and ends the regular season as the top rebounding team in the ASUN Conference (39.2).  The Colonels had assists on 19 of their 31 made field goals – Costner dished out a team-leading six in the win over the Bisons.

Lipscomb (19-10, 12-6 ASUN) ends its regular season campaign with 19 wins and will head to the ASUN Tournament as the No. 3 seed, hosting No. 6 seed North Alabama in the quarterfinals.

Tickets to see the Colonels and Hatters square off next Saturday are now available for purchase online here.  More information regarding EKU's host game next Saturday will be released at a later date.
