RICHMOND, Ky. – The EKU men's golf team turned in a solid performance at The Indy at Arlington on Saturday, with eight Colonels finishing in the top-15.
Isaac Meador led the way, finishing tied for second at one-over through the 36 holes with three birdies.
Meador's opening round 70 (E), marked his best single round of the spring season.
Along with teammate
Carl Space, Meador posted the best scoring average on par-4s at the tournament at 4.0.
Space was one of three Colonels to finish tied for fourth at two-over with
Zach Watterson and
Jameson Corbin.
Watterson and Space matched each other on the scorecard with opening-round scores of four-over before moving up eight spots in the second-round scores at two-under.
Watterson recorded 28 pars on the day, the second most at the tournament while recording three birdies on his final back-nine.
Corbin opened the tournament with a strong one-under opening round thanks in part to his eagle on the par-5 second.
Finishing in ninth was
Camden Robertson at three-over with a total of five birdies across the two rounds.
The redshirt junior recorded his best rounds of the 2024-25 season with a 71 (+1) and 72 (+3).
Justin Begley finished tied for 10
th at five-over recording the Colonels' other eagle on the day, also earning it on the par-5 second.
One shot off Begley was
Anders Larson and
Gehrig Sexton finishing tied for 12
th at six-over.
Larson rebounded after an opening round 75 (+5
) with a second round 71 (+1) while Sexton carded a 74 (+4) and 72 (+2).
In his first tournament of 2025,
Kannon Tucker finished tied for 22
nd at nine-over.
Rounding out the day for the Colonels were
Connor Gdovin in 33
rd and
Jackson Finney in 48
th place at 12-over and 18-over respectively.
The Colonels will next compete at the historic Chambers Bay Golf Club in University Place, Washington for the Chambers Bay Intercollegiate beginning March 31.
