LEXINGTON, Ky. – The Eastern Kentucky University men's golf team will stay close to home this week, competing in the Bluegrass Collegiate hosted by the University of Kentucky beginning Monday morning.
The 17-team field will play 54 holes over two days at the University Club of Kentucky's Big Blue Course, a par-71 layout measuring 7,013 yards. Play begins with a shotgun start at 9 a.m. ET on Monday.
Joining EKU in the field are Belmont, Bowling Green, Central Michigan, Washington, Evansville, Kentucky, Marquette, Morehead State, Murray State, Northern Kentucky, Purdue Fort Wayne, SIU Edwardsville, Tennessee Tech, UT Martin, Valparaiso and West Georgia.
The Colonels' lineup will feature senior
Anders Larson, junior
Zach Watterson, redshirt freshman
Hristo Yanakiev, senior
Justin Begley, and sophomore
Jameson Corbin. Redshirt freshman
Jackson Finney will compete as an individual.
Larson enters the week in strong form, posting two top-five finishes, including a victory, in his last two events.
The Pine Island, Minnesota, native captured medalist honors at the Seminole Intercollegiate on March 17 with a season-best 209 (-7) and followed with a fourth-place finish at the Memphis Intercollegiate on March 31 at even-par 216.
Begley also turned in a strong showing in Memphis, tying for sixth at 218 (+2) to help EKU secure a third-place team finish, its best result of the spring season.
