Box Score LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The Eastern Kentucky University men's tennis team fell in a 4-3 heartbreaker to Bellarmine on Sunday evening at the Eddie Weber Tennis Complex.
After Sunday's loss, EKU (9-15, 2-4 ASUN) will conclude its 2024-25 regular season with two Atlantic Sun Conference home matches beginning early April.
The Colonels opened Sunday's match dropping the doubles point with a 6-1 loss on court one and a 6-3 loss on court two.
Needing four victories in singles, EKU obtained three wins from
Nuno Pinheiro,
Fernando Bulnes, and
Romeo Elfving Navarro to drop the match to its in-state rival. All six courts were decided in two sets.
With Sunday's individual wins, Bulnes improves to 4-1 in ASUN Conference play and is a winner in his last three singles matches. Pinheiro's 6-3, 6-4 win over Bellarmine's Jack Batchelor was his first inside conference play, he is now 12-5 on the season.
