COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Eastern Kentucky University men's golf team closed out the 2024-25 season with a fifth-place finish at the Buckeye Classic on Saturday finishing at one-under as a team.
Leading the way was
Zach Watterson who finished the 54-hole tournament in eighth at -4 (212) with his best round coming in the second 18, as he carded a 68 (-4).
The second round 68 ties his career best as a Colonel, having shot the same three times previously this season at the Indy at Arlington, Mesquite Desert Classic, and Colonel Shootout.
For the tournament, Watterson had the third best scoring average on par 4's at 3.93.
Jackson Finney finished tied for 16
th for EKU at even par for the tournament at 216 strokes. His best round came in the first as he shot two-under (70) on the round.
His finish in 16
th is his best finish since the Colonel Shootout back in September.
Competing as an individual,
Justin Begley finished tied for 22
nd at two-over for the tournament, finishing strong with a final round 71 (-1).
Isaac Meador finished tied for 30
th position at four-over, but shot a final round, 70 (-2) to finish the 54 holes.
Meador led the tournament in pars made with 42.
One shot back was
Connor Gdovin and
Anders Larson who finished tied for 34
th respectively.
EKU will next tee-off in Valdosta, Ga. at Kinderlou Forest Golf Course on April 22 for the ASUN Conference Championship.
