Colonels Add 4-Star High School Guard For 2025-26 Season

RICHMOND, Ky. – Four-star point guard Tyler Jackson has signed to play basketball at Eastern Kentucky University.

Ranked as the No. 76 recruit in the nation by Rivals, Jackson is believed to be the highest rated player to sign with EKU in the recruiting rankings era.  He is ranked as the No. 15 point guard in the country by Rivals.  ESPN, Rivals and 247 Sports have assigned four stars to Jackson.

The Baltimore, Maryland native was selected to participate in the National Basketball Players Association (NBPA) Top-100 Camp.

"We're so excited about Tyler joining our program," EKU Head Coach A.W. Hamilton said.  "He's an extremely dynamic player who is elite in the open floor.  Tyler is one of the top ranked guards in the class of '25 and will flourish in our program."

The 6-foot-2, 153-pound Jackson played the 2024-25 season at the SoCal Academy in Castaic, California, which also produced 2024 NBA first round draft pick AJ Johnson.  In 2023-24 he played in the Overtime Elite organization, helping the City Reapers win the league title.  As a sophomore in 2022-23, Jackson played at St. Frances Academy in Baltimore.

Since the summer of 2022, Jackson has received offers from Georgia Tech, Mississippi State, Maryland, Kansas, Alabama, Syracuse, Houston, Penn State, Pittsburgh, Illinois, LSU, Indiana, Auburn, Villanova, West Virginia and Memphis.

EKU won the Atlantic Sun Conference Championship in 2024 and competed for a second straight league title up until the final weeks of the season.  The Colonels are the only ASUN team to win six or more conference games in each of the past two seasons.  The team's 8-game ASUN winning streak this past season was the longest conference winning streak for the program since winning 12 straight across the 1964-65 and 1965-66 seasons.  Since Hamilton became the head coach, EKU has broken 103 program records.
