Women’s Soccer Suffers Loss to Open Conference Play

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Eastern Kentucky University women's soccer team suffered a 2-0 loss against Lipscomb to open Atlantic Sun Conference play on Thursday night at the Lipscomb Soccer Complex.

Sunday's loss snaps a six-match unbeaten streak for the Colonels, who gained 14 points off four wins and two draws from August 17 to tonight match against the Bisons.

Despite the result, EKU (5-2-2, 0-1-0 ASUN) was able to keep pace with Lipscomb ending the match only down one, 13-12, in shot attempts.

EKU's reigning ASUN Conference Player of the Week Ella Grode fired off a team-high three shots but was unable to connect, she had one on frame. Fellow sophomore Ana Manning attempted two shots in the loss and three other Colonels had an attempt on goal.

Lipscomb (5-3-1, 1-0-0 ASUN) left the conference opener on a high note getting a brace from Bella Carapazza with goals scored in the 11th and 47th minutes.

The Bisons recorded assists on both of Carapazza's goals from Tatum Ahlemeyer in the first half and Skylar Cole in the second half, respectively.

EKU freshman goalkeeper Jordan LeVasseur received the loss going the full 90 minutes with four saves. The Michigan all-state goalie has recorded 22 saves in her last two efforts and is up to 47 on the year.

The Colonels return to action on Sunday against long-time rival Austin Peay in Clarksville. Sunday's match is scheduled to kickoff at 2 p.m. ET and can be viewed on ESPN+.
