RICHMOND, Ky. – Coming off a season-opening team win at the Joe Feaganes Marshall Invitational, the Eastern Kentucky University men's golf team is set to host the annual Colonel Classic, Sept. 20-21, at The University Club at Arlington.
The tournament will be three rounds, with the first two rounds being played on Saturday and the final round on Sunday.
Each day of play will begin with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. Each team will have six competing players, with the top four being counted towards the team score.
The course will play at 6,714 yards with par set at 70 for the tournament.
Competing programs are as follows: EKU, Kentucky, Louisville, Tennessee State, Morehead State, Kentucky State, Marshall, Longwood, Prairie View A&M, Mercyhurst, Univ. of Pikeville, and Centre College.
The six Colonels in the team lineup will be
Anders Larson,
Jackson Finney,
Zach Watterson,
Justin Begley,
Jameson Corbin, and
Hristo Yanakiev.
Competing as individuals from EKU will be
Jacob Lewallen,
Gehrig Sexton, and
Carl Space.
The Colonels started the 2025-26 season red hot at Marshall earlier in the month, claiming the program's first team title outside of Richmond since 2018, shooting 25-under as a team at 827 strokes, the second-best 54-hole team score in program history.
On its way to victory, EKU shot a program-best team score for a single round, going 20-under with 264 strokes in the second round of the Marshall Invitational.
Finney and Larson led the way for the Colonels, with Finney finishing tied for second at 8-under, and Larson tied for fifth at 7-under.
A team win this weekend would be historic for EKU, marking the program's first back-to-back tournament wins since 2015, when EKU won the Cobra Puma Invitational followed by the Ohio Valley Conference Championship.
It would also be the Colonels' first season with two wins since the 2017-18 season.
