Lexington, Ky. – The Eastern Kentucky University men's golf team wrapped up competition at the Cullan Brown Collegiate on Tuesday at Lexington Country Club, finishing 15th in the two-day event hosted by the University of Kentucky.
Jonathan Ericsson led the Colonels individually, tying for 45th with a three-round total of 219 (74-73-72). Ericsson saved his best round for the final 18 holes, carding a 72 that included five birdies. As a team, EKU posted its best round of the tournament in the final round, shooting 13-over par to close out the event.
The second round was suspended at 7:12 p.m. Monday, with several Colonel golfers still needing to complete their rounds. Following the conclusion of the second round, Ericsson and Zach Watterson each recorded their best round of the tournament in the third and final round, with both players shooting 73 (+1).
Tennessee captured the team championship at 22-under par, followed by Mississippi State in second and NC State in third.
EKU will return to action October 19-21 at the Bank of Tennessee Intercollegiate in Jonesborough, Tennessee. The tournament will be hosted by East Tennessee State University.
