EKU Welcomes Nicholls into Roy Kidd Stadium for Family Weekend

RICHMOND, Ky. – Eastern Kentucky University football returns to CG Bank Field at Roy Kidd Stadium after two weeks on the road to face the Colonels of Nicholls State University on Saturday in Richmond.

Kickoff is set for 6 p.m. ET, with the game theme being Family Weekend and Extra Yard For Teachers.

Saturday’s clash of the Colonels will be the first ever all-time between the two programs.

EKU (1-3, UAC 0-1) returns home to defend an 8-game home win streak after falling to then No. 22 West Georgia, 33-12, in its UAC opener.

Nicholls (1-3, 1-0 SLC) has lost three in a row after opening the season with a 20-6 win over then No. 4 Incarnate Word.

Last week, Nicholls fell on the road at FBS foe, Texas State, 35-3.

EKU

EKU had its best statistical game offensively against the Wolves last week, compiling 357 yards of total offense with quarterback Myles Burkett throwing for 203 yards.

On the ground, preseason All-UAC selection Brayden Latham rushed for 97 yards and one touchdown on a 45-yard run up the middle late in the second quarter.

The EKU defense will look to continue its positive turnover margin with the Maroon Doom forcing nine turnovers over the first four games, the fifth-best mark in the country.

On special teams, kicker Buzz Flabiano is 4-for-5 on field goals with his season-long coming last week from 41 yards.

Scouting Nicholls

Nicholls is 1-1 against the FCS this season and is coming off its second FBS loss to a Sun Belt program.

Nicholls was able to answer Texas State’s opening TD drive with a field goal but was shut out the rest of the game.

Running back Miequle Brock Jr. continued his strong season with 17 touches for 95 yards while Ty Marsh recorded a career-high 9 tackles.

Nicholls has two STATS Perform FCS Preseason All-Americans on defense in lineman Rasheed Lovelace and linebacker Jake Dalmado.

Nicholls is led by first-year head coach Tommy Rybacki, who takes the helm after spending 11 seasons with the program, most recently as a defensive coordinator.
