RICHMOND, Ky. – The Eastern Kentucky University men's golf team will travel to Farmington, Pennsylvania, and the Mystic Rock Golf Course at Nemacolin Resort for the Nemacolin Collegiate Invitational.
West Virginia hosts the invitational, which begins on Monday (Sept. 29) morning, with the first two rounds of the tournament being played on the day before the final round on Tuesday.
The Colonels join a loaded 19-team field, including: Univ. of Richmond, VCU, host West Virginia, Western Carolina, George Washington, Mount St. Mary's, Seton Hall, Towson, William & Mary, George Mason, St. Francis, Delaware, Robert Morris, Davidson, Bucknell, Campbell, James Madison, and Penn State.
EKU has finished first and second as a team in its first two tournaments of the fall, including a record-breaking round at the Joe Feaganes Marshall Invitational, as the Colonels shot a program best, 264 (-20) in the second round.
Competing for the Colonels will be
Anders Larson,
Zach Watterson,
Jackson Finney,
Justin Begley, and
Hristo Yanakiev.
Jameson Corbin will also be in action starting tomorrow at the Shepherd's Rock Individual.
Through six rounds of competition this season, Larson holds the team's lowest scoring average at 69.17 strokes per round.
Watterson has the second-best scoring average at 69.33, recently finishing tied for third at the Colonel Classic, shooting four-under (206) over 54 holes of competition.
Finney and Begley currently share the honor of the single lowest round on the season, both shooting a six-under, 65 in the record-breaking second round of the Marshall Invitational.
Yanakiev continues his debut campaign in maroon and white, coming off a top-10 finish at the Colonel Classic, where the Bulgarian finished at two-under with a total of 208 strokes.
Corbin takes on a 30-player field at the Nemacolin Woodlands Resort after opening the season with three rounds at par or better this season.
