Women’s Basketball Defeats Lipscomb 69-60, Takes Sole Possession of First Place in ASUN Conference

Ndukwe Scores Season-High 25 Points, Posts Consecutive 20-Point Games

RICHMOND, Ky. – Senior guard Ndidiamaka Ndukwe poured in a season-high 25 points to lead the Eastern Kentucky University women's basketball team to a 69-60 victory over Lipscomb on Thursday night inside Baptist Health Arena.

With the win, EKU improved to 14-4 overall and 5-0 in Atlantic Sun Conference play, moving into sole possession of first place in the league standings. The Colonels extended their winning streak to seven games midway through the 2025-26 season.

Ndukwe's 25-point performance marked the first time an EKU player has posted back-to-back 20-point outings in more than two years. The senior from Inkster, Michigan, shot 8-for-15 from the floor, knocked down two 3-pointers, and went 7-for-8 from the free-throw line.

Sophomore guard Liz Freihofer added 12 points, connecting on four 3-pointers to record her 16th double-figure scoring effort of the season. Freihofer continues to lead both EKU and the ASUN with 43 made 3-pointers, shooting 40.2 percent from beyond the arc.

Senior guard Althea Kara Angeles finished with 11 points on 5-of-10 shooting and narrowly missed a triple-double with seven assists and six rebounds. Freshman guard Kenleigh Woods chipped in nine points and tied the ASUN season high with six steals. Woods' performance marked just the third time an ASUN player has recorded six steals in a single conference game in the last two years.

Junior forward Kailani Lindsey nearly posted a double-double, finishing with nine points and nine rebounds while providing key energy and physicality off the bench.

Despite shooting 37 percent (25-of-67) from the field, EKU controlled several critical areas, outrebounding Lipscomb 41-36 and holding advantages in 3-pointers (8-4), fast-break points (10-4), assists (14-8) and steals (16-7). The Colonels also forced 24 turnovers, converting those miscues into 24 points.

Lipscomb jumped out to a 20-14 lead after the opening quarter, capitalizing on timely perimeter shooting while EKU struggled to find an offensive rhythm. Ndukwe's aggressive play helped keep the Colonels within striking distance.

EKU responded in the second quarter, outscoring the Bisons 17-14 to trim the deficit to three at halftime. The Colonels tightened up defensively late in the period and went into the break trailing 34-31.

The Colonels took control coming out of halftime, limiting Lipscomb to just eight points in the third quarter while scoring 18 of their own. Lindsey controlled the glass and Freihofer knocked down key shots as EKU built a 49-42 lead entering the final period.

EKU sealed the win in the fourth quarter, outscoring Lipscomb 20-18. Ndukwe delivered the finishing touches on both ends of the floor, while the Colonels remained poised defensively and at the free-throw line to close out the nine-point, 69-60, victory.

EKU returns to action Saturday with a road matchup against in-state rival Bellarmine at Knights Hall. Tipoff is scheduled for 2 p.m. ET with live coverage available on ESPN+.
