JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Eastern Kentucky University men's tennis senior Fernando Bulnes was named the Atlantic Sun Conference Men's Tennis Player of the Week after posting a marquee victory over Middle Tennessee's Karim Al-Amin last Friday.
 
The honor marks the second consecutive week an EKU men's tennis student-athlete has earned the league's weekly accolade and the fourth ASUN weekly award for the Colonels over the past two seasons.
 
A native of Badajoz, Spain, Bulnes picked up his lone win of the week with an impressive three-set comeback, defeating Al-Amin, the 2025 Conference USA Player of the Year and 2025 NCAA Tournament doubles participant, by a score of 5-7, 6-3, 7-6 (10-8).
 
Bulnes' victory came against one of the top players in NCAA mid-major tennis and snapped Al-Amin's strong early-season form, where he was previously 4-0 to start the 2026 spring schedule.
 
A Second Team All-ASUN selection a season ago, Bulnes improved to 2-1 in singles play this spring with the win, competing from courts two and three for the Colonels.
 
EKU returns to action on Thursday, traveling to face Tennessee in Knoxville. First serve is scheduled for 5 p.m. ET.
