Men’s Tennis Hosts Three Matches This Week in Richmond

RICHMOND, Ky. – The Eastern Kentucky University men's tennis program returns home after a three-match road trip to host Tennessee Tech, Furman, and Chattanooga this week.
 
EKU enters this week of play with a 6-8 overall record and 2-1 mark in true home games. The Colonels are on a two-match winning streak at home defeating James Madison (4-1) and Xavier (4-3) in a doubleheader on Feb. 7.
 
Admission is free for all three matches this week. Those unable to attend can find live stats on ekusports.com.
 
This season, senior Fernando Bulnes leads the squad with a 5-3 overall record primarily playing from court two. He enters the week on a two-match win streak going 2-0 on Feb. 7 with victories over JMU's Esteve Agusti 6-2, 6-3 and Xavier's Samuel Frizelle 6-2, 6-0.
 
Bulnes is a one-time Atlantic Sun Conference Men's Tennis Player of the Week selection this season.
 
Next in the column, freshman Ilie Cazac has four wins on the season receiving a bump in the lineup due to injuries. The Chisinau, Moldova, native, has three wins in his last five matches including a win over JMU's Francisco Sinopoli 6-4, 5-7, 6-2 from the four spot.
 
EKU also has three wins from four other members of the team in Nuno Pinheiro, Marek Nano, Adrian Contreras, and Joao Barreto.
