Colonels Hold Three-Game Lead in ASUN Standings

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Riding a 12-game winning streak and a perfect 10-0 start in Atlantic Sun Conference play, the Eastern Kentucky University women's basketball team closes a three-game road swing Wednesday night with a matchup at Lipscomb.

Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET inside Allen Arena and will be streamed live on ESPN+. Fans can also listen to the game on the Colonel All-Access page or @EKUWBB's live stream on X for free.

EKU (19-4, 10-0 ASUN) enters the week atop the ASUN Conference standings with a three-game cushion over second-place West Georgia and a four-game lead over Jacksonville, Stetson, and Florida Gulf Coast. The Colonels currently hold all applicable tiebreakers over the teams directly behind them in the standings.

The Colonels extended their winning streak with back-to-back road victories last week, defeating West Georgia, 68-55, on Jan. 29 before pulling away from Queens, 74-59, on Jan. 30. The two wins pushed EKU's streak to 12 consecutive games overall and 10 straight in conference play, both the second-longest runs in program history.

Sophomore guard Liz Freihofer continues to pace EKU on the season, averaging a team-high 13.6 points per game while pulling down 7.1 rebounds per contest and leading the team with 54 made three-pointers. In last Friday's win at Queens, the Union, Kentucky, native recorded her fourth career double-double with 10 points and a career-high 13 rebounds.

Freihofer has scored in double figures in 21 of the Colonels' 23 games this season.

EKU's senior class has also been a steady force throughout the year. Senior forward Joseana Vaz ranks second on the team at 12.8 points per game and is tied with Freihofer for the team lead in rebounds at 7.1 per game. Vaz posted an 18-point, 11-rebound double-double in the Colonels' road win at West Georgia.

Senior guard Ndidiamaka Ndukwe ranks second in the ASUN in conference scoring, averaging 15.9 points per game in league action, and enters Wednesday having scored in double figures in 12 consecutive contests.

Senior guard Althea Kara Angeles is just shy of double figures at 9.9 points per game and has scored 10 or more points in four straight outings. The Australian leads the ASUN with 95 assists on the season and ranks second in the league in assist-to-turnover ratio (1.70).

As of Tuesday, Feb. 3, EKU climbed to a program-best No. 107 ranking in the NCAA NET and continues to receive votes in the CollegeInsider.com Women's Mid-Major Top 25 poll. The Colonels currently rank inside the top 100 nationally in more than 19 statistical categories.

Scouting Lipscomb
Lipscomb (8-13, 5-5 ASUN) enters Wednesday's matchup coming off a 73-65 home win over North Florida on Jan. 29. The Bisons have won two of their last three games, including a road victory at Florida Gulf Coast on Jan. 24.

Lipscomb is led by senior guard Molly Heard, who averages 14.0 points per game and has scored in double figures in six straight contests, including two 20-point performances during that stretch.

Series History
Wednesday's contest marks the 13th all-time meeting between EKU and Lipscomb, a series that dates back to 2000. The Colonels lead the series 8-4 and have won the last two matchups, including a 69-60 victory in Richmond earlier this season on Jan. 15.
