EKU Women’s Basketball Wins 13th Straight with 61-55 Victory at Lipscomb

Colonels Secure Third Straight 20-Win Season for First Time in Program History

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – History was made Wednesday night as the Eastern Kentucky University women's basketball team earned its third consecutive 20-win season for the first time in program history with a 61-55 road victory over Lipscomb inside Allen Arena.

With the win, EKU improved to 20-4 overall and remained perfect in Atlantic Sun Conference play at 11-0, maintaining a 3.5-game lead atop the league standings with seven games remaining in the regular season.

The Colonels also extended their winning streak to 13 consecutive games dating back to Dec. 19, 2025. The run marks the second-longest overall winning streak in program history and the second-longest conference winning streak at 11 games.

Despite a cold shooting night, EKU placed four players in double figures. Freshman guard Kenleigh Woods paced the Colonels with 14 points, going 7-for-9 from the free-throw line.

Senior guard Ndidiamaka Ndukwe added 13 points for her 13th straight game in double figures, along with three rebounds and three steals.

Senior forward Joseana Vaz finished with 12 points, while sophomore guard Liz Freihofer posted a near double-double with six points, a team-high 11 rebounds, four steals, three blocks, and three assists.

The Colonels also got great production from senior Ella Bradley who scored six points, six rebounds, and shot 50 percent from the floor.

As a team, EKU shot 34.5 percent (20-for-58) from the field and made a season-low four three-pointers. The Colonels compensated by controlling the glass and creating turnovers, outrebounding Lipscomb 37-32 and forcing 22 Bisons turnovers.

Lipscomb (8-14, 5-6 ASUN) was led by McKayla Miller, who scored 18 points on 17 shot attempts.

EKU opened the game with strong defensive pressure, forcing six turnovers in the first quarter. Freihofer knocked down two early three-pointers and Vaz added another from deep as the Colonels jumped out to a 9-5 lead. Ndukwe capped the quarter with a layup in the final 30 seconds to give EKU a 14-12 advantage after one.

The Colonels continued to control the tempo in the second quarter, holding Lipscomb to just four made field goals. Woods and Vaz combined for five points at the free-throw line, and EKU closed the half on a 6-0 run highlighted by a fast-break layup from Ndukwe to take a 27-21 lead into the locker room.

EKU took command out of halftime, outscoring the Bisons 22-16 in the third quarter. Woods sparked the surge with a steal and three-point play, while Angeles and Freihofer converted buckets off turnovers. Freihofer drained a key three midway through the period as EKU pushed the lead to double digits and carried a 49-37 advantage into the fourth.

Lipscomb made a late push in the final quarter, trimming the deficit to single digits with just under five minutes to play. Woods answered with a timely three-pointer, and Vaz added a pair of finishes inside to keep EKU in control. The Bisons closed within six in the final minute, but Angeles and Ndukwe combined to go 3-for-4 at the free-throw line down the stretch to seal the 61-55 victory.

EKU returns to action Saturday afternoon at home against longtime rival Austin Peay. Tipoff is scheduled for 1 p.m. ET inside Baptist Health Arena. Tickets are available starting at $5 at the door or online.

Saturday's contest will serve as EKU's National Girls and Women in Sports Day celebration and Youth Sports Day. The game is presented by Central Bank.
