Women’s Tennis Defeats Eastern Michigan 4-1 on Friday

RICHMOND, Ky. – The Eastern Kentucky University women's tennis program defeated Eastern Michigan by a score of 4-1 on Friday afternoon inside the Greg Adams Tennis Center.
 
With the win, EKU moves to 2-5 on the season and snaps a two-match losing skid.
 
The Colonels won the doubles points over Eastern Michigan with decisive victories on courts two and three, both by 6-3 scores.
 
In singles, the Colonels found pressure from the Eagles but ended up prevailing taking the middle three courts for the 4-1 victory.
 
Senior Marilou Cote got EKU on the board in singles with a straight set win on court four over EMU's Regi Mendez Carreno 6-3, 6-4. Fellow senior Masha Fedenko picked up an emphatic 3-6, 6-1, 6-0 comeback win over EMU's Sabrina Tolstova on court two pushing the lead to 3-1.
 
Junior Ceylin Ipek clinched the dual match win with a three-set thriller on court three over EMU's Pehal Kharadkar 6-4, 3-6, 6-4.
 
EKU returns to action at home on Saturday afternoon against Chattanooga. First serve is scheduled for 1 p.m. ET.
