RICHMOND, Ky. – The Colonels started the outdoor season in strong fashion, taking both the men's and women's first outdoor ASUN Freshman of the Week honors in 2026, as announced by the conference office on Wednesday.
 
Hamish Murray earned the men's honor after taking first at last week's EKU Invitational in the 800 meters with a time of 1:53.87.
 
Teammate Metrine Serem wins the award on the women's side for also winning the 800m last week, leading a podium sweep for EKU with a winning time of 2:08.45.
 
The honor is Murray's first of his career, while Serem pairs the accolade with one from the indoor season.
 
Both Murray and Serem now turn their attention to the Raleigh Relays starting tomorrow.
