RICHMOND, Ky. – Eastern Kentucky University's women's golf team will host the annual Colonel Classic starting Monday at the University Club at Arlington in Richmond.
The 10 teams will play 54 holes over two days. Play will begin with two rounds on Monday starting at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday's final round is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m.
In addition to EKU, this year's field includes Akron, Bellarmine, Butler, IU Indianapolis, Marshall, Northern Kentucky, Southern Illinois, Southern Indiana and Youngstown State.
Arlington will have a par of 72 and play to 6,069 yards.
Last season's Colonel Classic was cancelled due to poor weather and playing conditions.
In 2024, EKU finished third in the event, which was shortened to two rounds due to weather. Three current players played that year, with
Elizabeth Tucci finishing tied for 15th. Playing as individuals,
Mary Keene Marrs tied for 82nd and
Claira Ramsey Eden finished 89th.
EKU last won the Colonel Classic in 2022, beating the field by 22 shots.
The scoring lineup for the Colonels will include sophomore
Imogen Jessen, sophomore
Karra Tucker, Eden who is a junior, Marrs who is a senior and senior
Lanie Campbell.
Sophomore
Maddi-Jo Benton, freshman
Cami Beuret and Tucci, who is a senior, will compete as individuals.
Campbell leads the team with a 76.80 stroke average. Jessen is second at 77.16. Tucker (77.84) is third and Marrs (79.00) is fifth.
Tucker has an individual win this season, at the Redbird Invitational. Campbell has a top-5 finish.
