JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - After a dominant weekend in the circle, Eastern Kentucky University pitcher
Victoria Byrum has been named the ASUN Pitcher of the Week by the league office on Monday afternoon.
The junior right-hander delivered three standout performances for the Colonels, helping anchor the circle during the weekend.
Byrum posted a 2-0 record with a 0.45 ERA across 15.2 innings of work. She allowed just one earned run on 10 hits while striking out 17 batters and holding opposing hitters to a .179 batting average.
Her week began with a strong relief appearance against IU Indy, entering the game in the third inning and shutting down the Jaguars' offense. Byrum tossed three scoreless innings, allowing no hits while striking out six batters to secure the win.
She followed that with another key outing against Miami (Ohio), where she entered the game in relief and tossed 6.2 scoreless innings. Byrum allowed six hits and struck out one batter while helping shut down the RedHawks offense the rest of the way.
She followed that performance with another strong showing against IU Indy, earning the win after throwing a complete game. Byrum struck out 10 batters across six innings, allowing four hits and just one earned run while throwing 134 pitches.
Across her three appearances during the week, Byrum limited opposing offenses to just three runs, only one of which was earned.
The honor marks Byrum's first ASUN Pitcher of the Week award.
