NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Eastern Kentucky University men's tennis team will wrap up the 2026 regular season with a road match against Atlantic Sun Conference foe Lipscomb on Friday morning in the Music City.
Friday's match is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m. ET inside the Huston-Marsh-Griffith Tennis Center.
EKU (11-14) enters the match having won two of its last three contests, defeating Southern Indiana (4-0) and Bellarmine (4-1) on April 1 in Richmond.
Last time out, the Colonels continued their momentum by picking up two singles wins in a 5-2 road loss at No. 14 Illinois on April 3.
Senior
Fernando Bulnes leads the team with a 10-7 singles record and enters Friday's conference matchup on a two-match winning streak. He defeated Bellarmine's Ryan Perkins (6-2, 6-1) on April 1 and No. 14 Illinois' Hayden Jones (6-2, 6-4) on April 3 from court No. 3.
Bulnes was named ASUN Men's Tennis Player of the Week following those performances, marking his second weekly honor of the season.
Additionally, freshmen
Ilie Cazac and
Marek Nano continue to impress with singles records of 8-8 and 5-3, respectively. Both players enter Friday on four-match winning streaks against mid-major competition while competing primarily on courts No. 2 and No. 4.
Senior
Nuno Pinheiro has added seven singles victories this season, including recent wins over Southern Indiana's Axel Sabourin (6-0, 6-3) and Northern Kentucky's Emilio Bravo (6-3, 6-1). The Sintra, Portugal native has faced five nationally ranked opponents and eight Power Five opponents while competing primarily on court No. 1.
Following Friday's match, the Colonels will turn their attention to the ASUN Championship, scheduled for April 14-18 in Fort Myers, Florida, and hosted by FGCU. EKU is projected to enter the tournament as a top-five seed based on its current ITA ranking.
Scouting Lipscomb
Winners of four of its last five matches, Lipscomb (11-10) will also close out its regular season on Friday. Senior Henrique Ushizima leads the Bisons with a 14-7 singles record, including a 7-4 mark on court No. 3.
