The Eastern Kentucky University women's soccer team cruised past Youngstown State in a 4-0 victory Sunday at Farmers National Bank Field.
 
The victory saw another EKU (2-1) second-half explosion, scoring three goals in the half to close out the game.
 
Forwards Rachel Phifer and Avery May led the Colonels with three points apiece, each recording one goal and one assist, all coming in the second half alone.
 
Chiara Premoli and Robin Reilly also found the back of the net, with Reilly's strike in the 48th minute marking the first of her collegiate career.
 
The Colonels finished the match with three assists and 11 shots while earning a 7-5 advantage in corner kicks and controlling 51 percent of possession.
 
Ruby Morgan earned her second win of the season in goal, recording two saves to secure the shutout against the Penguins.
 
EKU struck first in the 10th minute when Chiara Premoli curled a corner kick into the top-right corner for her second goal of the season.
 
Youngstown State threatened off a free kick in the 41st minute, but Morgan made the save to preserve EKU's 1-0 advantage entering halftime.
 
The Colonels controlled 55 percent of possession in the opening half while recording three shots and earning five corner kicks.
 
EKU began its second-half scoring surge in the 48th minute when Premoli played a through ball to Phifer, who found Reilly in the center of the box for a finish into the bottom-right corner, extending the Colonels' lead to 2-0.
 
Sophomore Rachel Phifer scored her first goal of the season in the 65th minute, finishing a combination inside the box from May and Chloe Measel. Both players earned assists on the goal, marking the first of Measel's career.
 
May capped the Colonels scoring in the 73rd minute, stripping a Youngstown State defender inside the box before firing a shot into the top-right corner.
 
EKU totaled 11 points in the match, with four different Colonels finding the back of the net in the 4-0 victory.
 
Head coach Matt Cosinuke praised the Colonels execution following the victory.
 
"I'm proud of the group's focus and commitment to the overall game plan today," Cosinuke said. "We were composed in our build and opened up the pockets we were looking for. It's great to score four goals on the road, and having four different goal scorers shows the quality and depth we have in our attacking rotations.
 
"Moving forward, we still have plenty to focus on and improve as we prepare for Morehead State and Chattanooga this week."
 
The Colonels return to action Thursday at 4 p.m. when they host Morehead State in the 19th edition of the Bluegrass Cup.
