RICHMOND, Ky. - Junior forward
Lauren Link scored the game-winning goal in the 10th minute to lift the Eastern Kentucky University women's soccer team to a 1-0 victory over Morehead State in the 19th edition of the Bluegrass Cup.
EKU improved to 3-1 and extended its winning streak to three matches. The Colonels have outscored their opponents 10-0 during the streak.
Avery May set up the decisive goal by finding Link making a run down the right side. Link collected the pass and fired a right-footed shot into the top-left corner.
The goal was the third of Link's career and marked her second consecutive match with a goal. May recorded an assist for the second straight match, tying for the team lead.
The Colonels finished with 25 shots, their most since recording 26 in a 3-2 victory over Stetson in 2024. May led EKU with a career-high seven shots, followed by Link with four.
EKU has recorded double-digit shot totals in each of its past three matches.
Despite the Colonels' pressure, EKU was unable to extend its lead after Link's goal as Morehead State goalkeeper Allie Lammers made a career-high nine saves.
Defensively, sophomore goalkeeper
Jordan LeVasseur helped keep the Eagles in check, recording two saves as EKU allowed just seven shots.
The Eagles' best chance to equalize came on a header in the 13th minute, but LeVasseur turned it away to keep the Colonels in front.
