Wallingford Broadcasting Will Continue as Radio Home of the EKU Colonels

RICHMOND, Ky. – The relationship between Eastern Kentucky University athletics and Wallingford Broadcasting has been extended for at least three more years as Wallingford Broadcasting will continue to air EKU football, men's basketball and women's basketball through 2015-16.

Nelligan Sports Marketing, Eastern Kentucky University's sports marketing and multi-media rights partner, made the announcement today (Aug. 29) after leading contract negotiations.

"We're proud to continue the University's relationship with Wallingford Broadcasting," Nelligan Sports Marketing Senior Vice President John Penny said. "We look forward to building upon this relationship and growing and enhancing the coverage of EKU Athletics for the University, its fans and our corporate partners."

Radio station WCYO (100.7 on the FM dial) will serve as the flagship station for the 2013 EKU Radio Network. WCYO "The Coyote" is the flagship station for Wallingford Broadcasting of Richmond and Irvine. With 25,000 watts of power, The Coyote signal reaches more than 625,000 people.

This year's football broadcast team will again be headed by longtime play-by-play announcer Greg Stotelmyer, who will be serving his 31st season as "The Voice of the Colonels" and his 35th season overall covering EKU football.

Joining Stotelmyer in the booth as the analyst for his first season will be Carl Hayden, a former Colonel who played defensive back for Eastern from 2002-05. Sean Hamilton, a second generation EKU football radio personality, will report from the sidelines for the third straight year after serving 13 of the previous 15 seasons as the engineer for the football radio broadcasts.

Along with other original local programming that airs on Wallingford Broadcasting, all EKU game broadcasts will continue to stream live on wcyofm.com. WCYO also streams on most mobile devices. Download the TuneIn Radio app, available for iPhone/iPod/iPad, Android, Blackberry, Palm and Windows Phone.

The first broadcast under the umbrella of the new agreement will be the Colonels' football season opener against Robert Morris on Thursday, Aug. 29, at Roy Kidd Stadium. This will mark the first season opener at home and on a Thursday night since 2000.
