RENO, Nev. – The Eastern Kentucky volleyball team lost to a nationally ranked team for the second straight day as it fell to #18 San Diego at the Sands Regency/SBC Tournament despite 20 assists and six digs from junior setter Kelly Jennings. Games scores were 30-19, 30-25 and 30-22.
The Colonels nearly broke through in the second game, taking the lead at 20-19 on a San Diego attack error. The Toreros responded with a quick four-point run and did not relinquish the lead again as they went on to the five-point victory. USD was led by junior outside hitter Kristen Carlson with 22 kills.
In addition to Jennings' second straight double-double, EKU got seven and six kills, respectively, from senior Liz Guard and sophomore Shelly George.
The Colonels head to the Kent State Tournament next weekend where they will take on Syracuse and Dartmouth and host Kent State.
