Men's Golf Tied For Lead At Columbia University Invitational

Round One Results

GALLAWAY, N.J. –
After the first 18 holes, Eastern Kentucky’s men’s golf team is tied for the lead at the Columbia University Invitational in Gallaway, N.J. The Colonels (301) are tied with Georgetown University and St. John’s University after an opening round 17 over par. EKU has a four-shot lead over 13th ranked University of Florida, which is tied for fifth.

All five Colonels sit among the top-30 of the 81 player field. Freshman Brian Fister leads Eastern and is tied for fifth overall after an opening round 2-over 73. No player in the field shot under-par in the first round.

Trey Bowling and Shaun McConnell are tied for 10th after a round of 4-over 75. Jesse Massie and Brandon Berry are tied for 30th at 7-over.

Texas Christian University, ranked 21st in the nation is in seventh place. Eastern Kentucky, 46th in the nation, is the third highest ranked team in the event.

The Columbia University Invitational is being contested at the Galloway National Golf Club, a par-71, 6,966-yard course. The second round of the 54-hole event will begin with a shotgun start at 9 a.m., on Saturday.
