Four Colonels Sit Among Top-20, EKU In Third At Columbia Invitational

GALLAWAY, N.J. –
Four Colonels sit among the top-20 players after two rounds at the Columbia University Invitational in Gallaway, N.J., but the Eastern Kentucky University men’s golf team dropped from a tie for first to third with 18 holes remaining. The Colonels (613) are four shots behind Florida (609) and 10 shots behind first place Texas Christian (603).

Florida is the 13th ranked team in the nation and TCU is ranked 21st.

Eastern’s second round 312 tied for the third best score of the round, but Florida and Texas Christian carded rounds of 304 and 296 respectively to jump in front of the Colonels.

Senior Shaun McConnell leads Eastern Kentucky, and is tied for 10th overall, with a two-round total of 152, 10-over par. Jesse Massie moved from tied for 30th to tied for 13th after a second round 75. His total of 153 is 11-over par. Freshman Brian Fister (154) is tied for 18th and senior Trey Bowling (155) is tied for 20th.

The Columbia University Invitational is being contested at the Galloway National Golf Club, a par-71, 6,966-yard course. The final round of the 54-hole event will begin with a shotgun start at 9 a.m., on Sunday.
