RICHMOND, Ky. – The Eastern Kentucky University men’s tennis team concluded its home schedule with a 7-0 victory over OVC rival Morehead State Tuesday evening. The Colonels (13-10, 3-2 OVC) play their final four matches on the road.

Eastern took the top four singles matches in straight sets. The closest match came at No. 5 singles where senior Fred Goncalves edged Morehead’s Charles Williams in a super tie-breaker, 5-7, 6-3, (14-12).

Morehead State’s (7-7, 2-3) lone triumph came at No. 3 doubles.

“Having Alex [Das Izquierdo] back was a huge shot in the arm for our team,” EKU head coach Rob Oertel said. “I’m not so sure we are 7-0 better than Morehead, so this was a great win today.”

Eastern is on the road for two matches this weekend. First up is Austin Peay on Friday, April 4 at 2 p.m.
