BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – OVC co-leader Samford defeated the Eastern Kentucky University men’s tennis team Friday evening, 5-2. The Bulldogs improve to 12-7 overall and 7-0 in conference action while the Colonels fall to 15-11 and 5-3.

Freshman Alex Das Izquierdo (No. 1) and sophomore Johannes John (No. 4) provided the two points for EKU. Das Izquierdo is now 5-1 against OVC opponents and has won five straight matches. John has won four of his past five singles contests.

The Colonels conclude the regular season tomorrow at Jacksonville State.
