Women's Golf Finishes Tied For Fourth At EKU Spring Invitational

RICHMOND, Ky. – Eastern Kentucky’s women’s golf team is tied for fourth at EKU Spring Invitational. Melissa Rosloniec and Kelli Warner led the Colonels and tied for seventh with a two-round total of 156.

Eastern Michigan carded back-to-back rounds of 303 to win the event with a 606, 20 shots ahead of second place Winthrop (626). Tennessee Tech (633) placed third followed by Eastern Kentucky and Evansville (636) tied for fourth.

The 36-hole, seven-team event was contested at the Arlington Golf Club in Richmond, Ky., a par-72, 5,817-yard course.

Winthrop’s Jutta Degerman and Eastern Michigan’s Stephany Fleet were tied atop the individual leaderboard after the first round. However, Fleet shot a 73 in round two and finished one shot in front of Degerman for the individual title.

Rosloniec followed a first round 77 with a second round 79. Warner’s second round 78 moved the senior from ninth to seventh. Gabrielle Andersson finished two shots behind and tied for 14th overall.

The schedule originally called for two rounds on Friday and one round on Saturday, however heavy rain made it impossible to begin play until Friday afternoon.

Next up for the Colonels is the 2008 Ohio Valley Conference Championships. The three-round, three-day event begins on April 14 in Muscle Shoals, Ala.
