RICHMOND, Ky. – Eastern Kentucky University's women's golf team shot five strokes better than any other team in the second round and moved from a tie for third to first place after day one of the annual Colonel Classic at the University Club at Arlington in Richmond.

The 10 teams will wrap up the 54-hole event on Tuesday with the final round starting at 9 a.m.

EKU followed a first round 314 with a second round 301. With a day one total of 615, the Colonels lead second place Youngstown State (616) by one shot.

Claira Ramsey Eden led the charge with an even-par second round 72. Starting on hole No. 2, the junior had two birdies on her first eight holes and another on the par-5 No. 12 hole. Eden opened play on Monday with a round of 77 and is in second place with a 36-hole total of 149.

Butler (620) is third and Marshall (630) is fourth. Akron (635) sits in fifth.

Karra Tucker (152) is tied for third after back-to-back rounds of 76.Â
Lanie Campbell followed a first round 79 with a second round 3-over 75. She jumped 10 spots into a tie for eight with a total of 154.

Mary Keene Marrs (163) is tied for 37th.
