Final Results
ANN ARBOR, Mich. – A day after rain washed out the first two rounds of the Wolverine Invitational, the Eastern Kentucky University women’s golf team carded a 320 to place ninth today in the abbreviated event. The University of Michigan (293) won the 13-team invitational by 11 shots over Minnesota (304). The Colonels finished in front of Detroit-Mercy, Indiana State, Bucknell and Oakland University.
Freshman Taylor Church led EKU, and tied for 18th overall, with a score of 77. Sophomore Gabrielle Andersson tied for 23rd with a 78. Three freshmen followed. Lindsey Rankin (81) tied for 46th, Alex Schmidt (83) tied for 62nd and Linda Hogberg (87) tied for 67th.
The Colonels finished just one shot in front of Detroit-Mercy and Indiana State. Southern Methodist edged Eastern by one shot for eighth. Fifth through 11th places were separated by only five strokes.
The Wolverine Invitational was played at the par-71, 6,098-yard UM Golf Course.
Eastern Kentucky will play next in the Ball State Cardinal Classic on Sept. 22 and 23 in Yorktown, Ind.
