Women's Golf In Ninth At Ball State Cardinal Classic

Gabrielle Andersson is tied for second overall at the Ball State Cardinal Classic.

MUNCIE, Ind. –
Eastern Kentucky University’s women’s golf team sits among the top-10 after Monday’s first round of the 36-hole Ball State Cardinal Classic in Muncie, Ind. The Colonels have a two-shot lead over Bowling Green State and Northern Illinois and are five shots within sixth place. Sophomore Gabrielle Andersson is tied for second after an opening round one-over 73.

Ball State has a three-shot lead after a first round 302. Simone DeSouza of California University-Pennsylvania sits atop the individual leader board with a one-under 71.

Freshman Kara Fant, making her first appearance as a Colonel is tied for 35th after shooting a 79 in the opening round. Freshman Taylor Church (82) is tied for 53rd. Freshman Linda Hogberg (83) is one shot behind and tied for 56th. Freshman Katie Wiedmar (95), also making her first collegiate appearance, is tied for 73rd.

The 2008 Cardinal Classic is being played at the Players Club, a par-72 course. Round two will begin on Tuesday with a shotgun start at 9 a.m.
