Final Results
CALHOUN COUNTY, Ala. – Eastern Kentucky University’s women’s golf team finished sixth at the 14th Annual Chris Banister Gamecock Golf Classic hosted by Jacksonville State University. After back-to-back rounds of 314, the Colonels (943) carded a 315 in Sunday’s final round and moved in front of Western Kentucky to finish sixth in the 10-team tournament.
In addition to finishing ahead of Western Kentucky, EKU beat fellow Ohio Valley Conference member Austin Peay. Tennessee-Chattanooga (878) placed first followed by Middle Tennessee State (905) and Southern Mississippi (913). Jacksonville State (917) posted a fourth place finish and Murray State (922) took home fifth.
Freshman Linda Hogberg led Eastern, and tied for 11th overall, with a three-round total of 229. Sophomore Gabrielle Andersson (234) tied for 23. Freshman Taylor Church (239) had the Colonels’ best round of the day (78) and moved into a tie for 34th.
Freshmen Alex Schmidt (245) tied for 41st and Lindsey Rankin (246) tied for 43rd.
The Chris Banister Classic was played at the par-72, 5,998 yard Silver Lakes Golf Course on the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail.
The Colonels continue their fall schedule next Saturday and Sunday at the Wolverine Invitational hosted by the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, Mich.
