Men's Golf Places Third In California

OXNARD, Calif. –
Eastern Kentucky's men’s golf team placed third in the four-team Morehead State University Spring Kick-Off held in Oxnard, Calif. The Colonels sat in second place, five shots behind the leader, after a first round 292 on Sunday, but back-to-back rounds of 294 and 296 pushed the team one spot back.

Murray State was the wire-to-wire leader and finished with a three-round total of 862. Austin Peay (869) placed second. EKU’s 882 was seven shots better than fourth place Morehead State.

Senior Jesse Massie finished eighth with a two-over-par 218. He sandwiched rounds of two-under and one-under around a five-over round two 77. Senior Trey Bowling (222) placed 13th at six-over. Brandon Berry (223) tied for 14th at seven-over.

The MSU Spring Kick-Off was contested at the Victoria Lakes Course at River Ridge Golf Club, a par-72, 6,834-yard course.

The Colonels will play in the Samford Invitational in Birmingham, Ala., on March 9 and 10.
