Final Results

OXNARD, Calif. – Eastern Kentucky’s women's golf team began the spring season with a fifth place finish at the eight-team Morehead State University Spring Kick-Off, held in Oxnard, Calif. Freshman Kara Fant turned in her first career top-20 finish, placing tied for 13th.

Florida International won the event with a three-round total of 895. Eastern Michigan (939) placed second and UC-Riverside (944) finished fourth. Morehead State’s 956 was fourth best, followed by EKU’s three-round total of 974.

Fant opened with a 78 on Sunday and then fired back-to-back rounds of 80 on Monday and Tuesday to finish with a three-round 238. Gabrielle Andersson (246), Linda Hogberg (246) and Katie Wiedmar (246) all tied for 23rd.

The MSU Spring Kick-Off was contested at the Victoria Lakes Course at River Ridge Golf Club, a par-72, 6,129-yard course.

The Colonels will host the EKU El Diablo Intercollegiate in Citrus Springs, Fla., on March 12 and 13.
