CITRUS SPRINGS, Fla. – Eastern Kentucky University’s women’s golf team will host the EKU El Diablo Intercollegiate on Thursday and Friday in Citrus Springs, Fla. The event will be contested at the par 72, 5,902-yard El Diablo Golf & Country Club.
The participating teams include Alabama-Birmingham, Austin Peay, Ball State, Eastern Kentucky, Florida Atlantic, Florida Gulf Coast, Indianapolis, IUPUI, James Madison, Murray State, Radford, Southern Illinois, Southern Illinois Edwardsville, St. John’s and USC Upstate.
This is the second time the Colonels have served as the host for the event. Last year, Eastern finished third among 10 teams. Six squads (Florida Atlantic, Florida Gulf Coast, Alabama-Birmingham, Austin Peay, Radford and IUPUI) are returning for a second time. Florida Atlantic won by 25 shots last season.
In their first event of the spring, the Colonels finished fifth at the Morehead State Spring Kick-Off.
On Thursday, the teams will play two 18-hole rounds beginning with a shotgun start at 8 a.m. Friday will feature one 18-hole round, also getting underway with a shotgun start at 8 a.m.
