CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – Eastern Kentucky’s women’s basketball team will embark on a two game road trip to face a pair of Ohio Valley Conference teams. The Lady Colonels (4-5) play at Austin Peay on Sunday at 3 p.m. ET. The road trip concludes with a game at Tennessee State on Tuesday.

This will be the 71st meeting between Eastern Kentucky and Austin Peay. EKU leads the all-time series with APSU 43-27. The Lady Colonels are 17-15 all-time in games played in Clarksville. The Lady Govs have won three of the past four meetings between the two teams.
In its last game, Eastern Kentucky trailed by as many as 14 points before storming back to take a 1-point lead, however Central Arkansas held on for a 61-52 victory last Saturday.
Marie Carpenter led EKU with 14 points.
Nadia Mossong contributed 12 points and seven rebounds.
Through Friday’s games, Eastern’s
Alex Jones is third in the OVC in scoring (15.6 ppg), second in rebounding (9.9 rpg) and third in steals (2.3 spg). Senior
Reese Bass is second with 4.6 assists per game.
Brittany Coles leads the OVC with 1.8 blocks per game. Carpenter is the conference leader in free throw percentage (88.9 percent).
Austin Peay has started the season 2-9, but the Lady Govs are 1-1 in OVC play. Since beating Southeast Missouri 65-57 in its OVC opener, APSU has dropped three straight. A road loss to Eastern Illinois was followed by a pair of home court losses to Lipscomb and Bowling Green.
Austin Peay averages 59.2 points per game and is allowing 72.3 points per game. The Lady Govs shoot the ball well (40 percent) but average 21 turnovers per game. APSU opponents have shot 45 percent from the field and 35 percent from three-point range.
Whitney Hanley leads the team in scoring (14.1 ppg) and is the only Lady Gov averaging double figures. Hanley is also the only player that has started every game this season for APSU. Eight players have started at least five games.
