RICHMOND, Ky. – The Eastern Kentucky University men’s tennis team kept its perfect OVC record intact with a resounding 7-0 victory over rival Morehead State Tuesday afternoon. Both EKU (12-8, 5-0 OVC) and Morehead State (9-6, 3-1) entered the contest atop the OVC standings.
The Colonels won five of the six singles matches in straight sets. Only junior
Alex Das (No. 1) was pushed to three sets, but he rebounded to defeat Morehead State’s Jerry Sundgren in a super-tiebreaker.
“Our team set the tone early in doubles,” EKU head coach
Rob Oertel said. “I think the men fed off the disappointment from the women’s loss to Morehead State earlier in the afternoon.”
EKU will now play its final four regular season matches on the road. First up is Austin Peay on Friday, April 2.
