Gameday: EKU Heads West to Face Arkansas

RICHMOND, Ky. – The Eastern Kentucky University men’s basketball team has won four straight games, but faces a tough test Tuesday night at Arkansas. Tip time is set for 8 p.m. ET.

Eastern Kentucky (7-5) will be looking to earn its first five-game winning streak since February 2008. The Colonels have tallied five four-game winning streaks in that span. Over the last four games, the EKU defense has held the opposition to 54.2 points per game.

Arkansas (6-3) broke a two-game losing skid Saturday with a 62-55 win over Southeastern Louisiana. Seven players scored at least six points in the victory over the Lions led by Rashad Madden’s 10 tallies. Freshman guard BJ Young averages a team-high 15.3 points per game. The Razorbacks are 6-1 at home this season.

The Ohio Valley Conference already owns two wins over teams from the Southeastern Conference this year. Tennessee State defeated South Carolina, 64-63, on Nov. 20 and Austin Peay downed Tennessee, 74-70, on Dec. 10.

This is just the second ever meeting between the two teams. The first meeting occurred exactly 31 years ago – Dec. 20, 1980. Arkansas won that contest, 80-74.
