RICHMOND, Ky. – Visiting Samford picked up a 5-2 victory over the Eastern Kentucky University men’s tennis team Saturday afternoon in the Greg Adams Tennis Center.
The loss snapped a 38-match home winning streak for EKU (7-3) that dated back to Feb. 7, 2009.
Samford (5-2) rallied to win the last five singles matches of the contest. The Bulldogs won all six tie-breakers, which included a super tie-breaker at No. 6 singles.
Senior
Hugo Klientovsky (No. 1) was the lone Eastern player to tally a singles win.
“Samford stepped up to another level in the match and we let them,” EKU head coach
Rob Oertel said. “We had the momentum early in singles and they turned it around. We didn’t’ have an answer after that point.”
EKU now has a week off to prepare for nationally-ranked Indiana (No. 26). That match will take place at IU on Saturday, March 3.
